Literacy unlocks the door to learning throughout life, is essential to development and health, and opens the way for democratic participation and active citizenship.
Kofi Annan, former United Nations Secretary-General
We take it for granted that we can read and write. When you think about about it though, being literate is the very first step in having any kind of opportunity in this world.
That's why on September 19th I'll be joining fellow members of the London tech community on a bike journey. We'll be riding from Paris to London to raise money for Room to Read.
Room to Read envision a world in which all children can pursue a quality education, reach their full potential and contribute to their community and the world. To achieve this goal, they focus on literacy and gender equality in education.
They work in collaboration with communities and local governments across Asia and Africa to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the life skills they’ll need to succeed in school and beyond.
Over 8 million children have benefitted from Room to Read’s programs over the past ten years.
Paris to London will take us 3 days.
I'm paying for my travel and accommodation expenses, so any money raised will go directly to Room to Read.
Please support us, give as much as you can to this great cause...
Thank you for your support.
